Presenting ARC's Seventh India ForumDriving Business Transformation Through Innovative Manufacturing and Supply Chain Solutions
November 12–14, 2009 - Bangalore, India
Business transformation is an ongoing process even in the best of times and in today’s economic scenario it is more relevant, as the manufacturing world will emerge a transformed entity after the downturn. The discrete manufacturing industry in India that has borne the brunt of the downturn’s impact in the country has to reinvent itself to overcome the after effects.
Indian discrete industry manufacturers will have to extensively deploy manufacturing IT solutions to enhance their performance through innovative strategies. Manufacturers must turn to enabling technologies to achieve business transformation.
Discrete industry manufacturers are beginning to recognize that their main challenge is not so much the declining demand, but their ability to prune ‘costs of manufacturing’ along the entire manufacturing supply chain as opposed to the ‘spend cuts’. The entire Design-Operate-Maintain cycle will need continuous addressing to discover newer ways to reduce manufacturing costs. There is constant need to channel investments into systems and solutions and adopt best global industry practices in order that greater operational performance levels are achieved.
Shortening design and engineering cycle times is critical to reducing costs of manufacturing, which essentially means reduced iterative actions necessary to design, manufacture, and deliver products to consumers. Manufacturers need to invest in technologies and solutions leveraging digital manufacturing, third-party product engineering services, and collaborative production management (CPM/MES) systems, backed up by state-of-the-art factory automation, supply chain management, and product lifecycle management and digital manufacturing systems. OEMs must have state-of-the-art plant floor automation systems and integrate them with automation and decision support systems.
ARC has been focused on helping manufacturers develop winning strategies and best practices, and this two day forum is one such initiative for the expanding Indian discrete industry verticals, such as aerospace & defense, automotive & auto components, machinery manufacturing, building automation, electrical, electronics & semiconductor, capital equipments, and others.
This forum will bring industry thought leaders to share their experiences and strategies for success in these challenging but opportune times. Key decision makers and thought leaders from various manufacturing industries, along with suppliers of automation systems and manufacturing IT solutions, will discuss the latest trends, case studies, and best practices relating to success in a global marketplace. The knowledge transfer would come from case study presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and peer-to-peer networking. Presentations will highlight how manufacturers are leveraging product lifecycle management and digital manufacturing solutions. Speakers will also discuss how they integrate plant-level systems with enterprise solutions and deploy CPM/MES systems to achieve continuous productivity improvements and supply chain efficiencies. Independent design and engineering service providers will discuss how they are helping many OEMs successfully launch product upgrades and new products, how they can help design products for manufacturability, and reduce costs through value engineering. There will be workshops on integration challenges, interoperability issues, wireless in automation, industrial networks, vision systems, and others.
