Study Overview
Reliability Optimizes Asset Availability and Utilization
Reliability solutions offer a unique value proposition in that the information generated is applicable to all levels in the organization, from the plant floor to the C-suite.  A true enterprise level reliability software solution collects, consolidates, analyzes, and correlates disparate data sets into a single information system such that all levels in the organization have access to a single version of the truth on which to base maintenance and production related decisions.  As a tool in the asset performance management toolbox, reliability software and services enable enterprises to optimize asset availability and utilization for the purpose of mitigating exposure to risk.

The convergence of a number of factors is the impetus behind the current interest in reliability software and services.  Increases in the amount and complexity of plant assets employed in manufacturing are the primary factor as the lines between work management and IT become blurred.  Enterprises are placing greater emphasis on risk management as means to limit their exposure to adverse events.  Add to this the growing shortage of skilled technicians to operate and maintain assets, and a “perfect storm” begins to materialize.

Strategic Issues
Strategies vary for reliability software and services as not all suppliers provide both.  Nevertheless, the prospects for both are extremely bright as manufacturers in industries across the board seek to get the most from their assets.
